Recherche infructueuse

If you know exactly what you are looking for...

Search by record number (numéro de notice)

If you already know the record number, go to the top of the page to the “Search” menu, then “Avancée,” then type the number in “Numéro de la notice.”
Only enter the relevant digits: for record #002283, enter 2283, then click on the “Filtrer” button. As record #002283 is the former record A1602, entering A1602 will give the same result.

Search by record title (titre de la notice)

Under the front image on the home page, type the title of the record in the “Rechercher une image” window.
This search can only return one result. You must therefore type the exact title, or the beginning of the exact title of the record you are looking for.
A simple record title is in the form “Title of the painting, space, dash, space, Name of the artist.”

If you want to perform a broader search...

Search by keyword

Go to the top of the page to the “Search” menu, then type a keyword and click on “Simple.” For best results, type only one word.

The keyword search is classified according to the main reference taxonomies of the records: Artist, Series, Image Subject, Object. The "Divers" (Miscellaneous) section contains the results of a full-text search for the word in the records.

Clicking on one of the results takes you to a record, a series of records, a taxonomy page, or a results page in the advanced search. The advanced search is protected by a captcha for anonymous users. From the taxonomy page, if there are too many results, click on “Refine search” to switch to advanced search.

Cross-referencing multiple criteria

From the simple search, click on the result you're interested in, then on “Affiner la recherche" (Refine search). There, you can enter a second keyword in “Recherche libre” (Free search), or select any entry from one of the facets displayed in the left column.
