"By M. de la Grenée, Professor.
20. Bacchus and Ariadne.
21. Diana & Endymion.
These two paintings are 15 inches high, by 13 inches wide. "
History :
- Signed and dated "L. La Grenée 1768".
- Royal collection (Gustaf III, 1792); entered the museum in 1866.
- This painting has as its counterpart a "Bacchus et Ariane ", where the male and female figures are arranged symmetrically. There had been a Diane et Endymion by Lagrenée exhibited at the Salon of 1765, #25 in the Livret (current location unknown).
