Erminia and Vafrino rescue wounded Tancredi, next to dead Argante. Jerusalem Delivered, Canto XIX

History :

2. Composition inspired by Giovan Battista Piazetta's engraving for Albrizzi's 1745 edition. The work was part of a cycle that probably adorned an Este villa. Several canvases have survived and are now dispersed.
