History :
1. The Avelines are a whole family of painters and especially engravers. Contradictory indications of dates and first names in Bénézit, and between Bénézit and the great 19th-century Larousse. Sandoz indicates: Pierre (?)
2. The tapestry cardboard was engraved. This was a commission for the Beauvais manufacture, and was woven three times, in 1761, 1765, and 1771. The cartoons were damaged during use in Beauvais. No trace of this painting in Diderot's home.
