Description of Diderot:

"This is the whole picture; just scatter around the basket a few separate grapes, a macaroon, a pear, and two or three api apples; it will be agreed that separate grapes, a macaroon, isolated api apples, are favorable neither in form nor in color; however let us see Chardin's painting. " (CFL VI 91)
