- Although this engraving is unsigned, the majority of the engravings in the collection are signed "Marie Briot fecit "
- Placed p.16, opposite speech II "Let Art help nature", the engraving represents the statue of Mercury facing the image of fortune.
- This engraving imitates an emblem by Alciat (Les Emblèmes d'Alciat, ed. 1551, p. 107, "Ars Naturam adiuuans.", in which nature is not blindfolded). See link.
