Description
This Virgin in Majesty originally held an infant Jesus, broken in 1794.
The image of the Virgin was placed, in the 1870s, above a painted decoration depicting a Calvary. In the second half of the 20th century, it was lowered to bring it closer to the faithful, partially obscuring Calvary. However, the photograph shows the arms of Christ on the cross behind the Virgin, and the Virgin Mary and Saint John on either side of the statue. The fresco is now hidden by a blue drapery.
