Description

The apostle John takes Astolphe on a tour of the moon empire. An old man (Time) removes the labels that identify the sons of lives and throws them into the water of Lethe. However, two swans manage to save a few names from oblivion and carry them to the Temple of Immortality.

History :

1. The engraving is numbered XXXV. in a small medallion at the top center of the border. Top left, page number, 392 and CANTO [TRENTESIMOQVINTO, right page]. Argument on right-hand page:

"Gli scrittor da l'Apostolo sincero Lodati son. D'Amon la bella figlia Per Fiordiligi Rodomonte fiero Vince in battaglia, e'l buon Frõtin si piglia; Giunta in Arli quel manda al suo Ruggiero Sfidandolo, e mentr'egli ha meraviglia Chi questi sia, Grandonio e Ferrauto Con Serpentino è per sua man caduto."
