Description
After a stunning victory over Darius III at the Battle of Issus, Alexander takes possession of the royal tent. Darius' mother (in yellow) rushes to the feet of Ephestion (in red), Alexander's friend and lieutenant (in pink and gold). Turning to Darius' daughter (in blue), and stopping Ephestion with his right arm, he declares: "This one is another Alexander"
.
Alexander then tells the women that Darius is not dead, but on the run, spares them and allows them to bury the dead.
