The Torchbearer, a Monumental Figure - Arno Breker

History :
2. Commissioned by Hitler for Germania, which was to be the future capital of the Third Reich, this monumental bas-relief was intended to adorn a frieze in the Soldiers' Hall (240 m), on the north-south axis of the city. For this frieze, Arno Breker created, in addition to the Torchbearer, the Guard, the Victim, the Avenger, Vengeance, and Comrades.
All of these sculptures were destroyed during the bombing of Berlin in 1945.
The image comes from a postcard. On the back of the postcard, we can read:
Arno Breker: Monumental Figure.
