The meeting of the Estates General (History Boards Elem. School, Rossignol Collection , n°47) - Hérouard

Description

History :

3. Hérouard takes up Charles Monnet's composition, but tones down its solemnity: the room has 6 columns along its length, compared with Monnet's 10. Hérouard highlights the contrast between the black garments of the industrious Third Estate, the chamarré garments of the nobility on the right, and the red of the cardinals at the far left.
