In this scene, Chénier introduces the following didascalia:
"The Duc de Guise and all the other courtiers place one knee on the ground, crossing their swords. They remain in this position during the Cardinal de Lorraine's speech."
History :
1. The engraving is unsigned.
The caption is cut off at the bottom of the page. It is reconstructed: "Run and serve well the God of the nations; | I pour out upon you all his blessings" (Act IV, scene 6).
