Description

"He brought the lamp close to the talisman the young man was holding upside down, and showed him characters embedded in the cellular tissue of this marvelous skin, as if they had been produced by the animal to which it had once belonged. [...] The old man presented his stylus to the stranger, who took it and tried to cut into the skin where the words were written [...]."
