Saint Louis did die during the 7th Crusade, but in Carthage, not Palestine.

The other scenes illustrated are "The Count of Vermandois has Charles III imprisoned", "Louis VI takes the oriflamme at St Denis" and "Charles VII and Joan of Arc enter Reims".

History :
  1. The trunk lid is signed "LS" for Léon Saussine.
  2. The publisher reuses lotto cartons to make puzzles, here called "jeux de patience". Each lotto cardboard is surrounded by a frieze, to enlarge the puzzle surface.
