Description

General Saussier takes command of French troops in July. In August, the Jlass take control of Kairouan, the holy city. On October 26, 1881, Kairouan fell to the French.

2. The game was intended for export, as evidenced by the legend in four languages, French, English, German and Italian. Italy had in fact attempted to conquer Tunisia (1871); the French protectorate would moreover push it closer to Prussia and Austria (Triplice, 1882).
