Description

History :

2. A former employee of Watilliaux, Lucien Mauclair set up his own game publishing and manufacturing company in 1887. Under the name Mauclair-Dacier, he set up shop in 1891 on rue des Haudriettes in Paris, signing his name with the initials MD. The company was absorbed in 1904 by JJF, les Jeux et Jouets Français: Mauclair-Dacier continued to produce within the group.
Mauclair-Dacier made all kinds of games: shadow puppets, animated lotto, yellow dwarf... One of its specialties was the "caisse-étrennes", a box containing a variety of games. A 56-page catalog published in 1898 gives us a precise idea of the variety of games produced.
The lithograph shown here comes from this catalog.
JJF appears to have ceased trading in 1930.
