P. 311, 1st column, we read the following account:

"The retreat was sounded. But those who were locked up and surrounded in the houses could not get out. In a candle factory, fifty-seven men had entrenched themselves; they left the square only after littering the surroundings with enemy corpses. Caught in a bakery, a few Mobiles and a handful of Turcos put up heroic resistance. Chased from the first floor to the second floor, they fought like lions against the pursuing Prussians, who they threw out of the windows. Many, having exhausted all resistance, had to surrender."

It wasn't the Prussians, but the French who were dislodged...
