Description
To the left, a maenad plays the aulos. A young man holding a thyrse (emblem of Bacchus), pulls a goat behind him. At the head of the procession, on the right, Silenus rides a donkey; he also holds a thyrse.
History :
2. Former collection of A.C de Tubières, comte de Caylus. Entered the collection of the Cabinet des Médailles et des Antiques between 1752 and 1765, by donation.
3. This work appears to form a set with the bas-reliefs inv.57.90, inv.57.91 and inv.57.92a. According to Caylus they may have decorated the same place and been executed by the same artist.
