Description
Massacre of the sons of Egyptos by the daughters of Danaos. Only Lynceus is spared by Hypermnestra. They become king and queen of Argos.
On the miniature only the murders are depicted, with swords and not with the long pin the young brides had concealed in their hair.
History :
- Rubric: "comment danaus a ses .L. filles demanda quelles acceillent leurs .L. mari qui estoient filz de leur oncles; et comment ilz furent tous ocis; fors lyn[c]us qui fu respitez (?) par ipermonstria sa femme qui len fist sortir."
- Folio 25 verso.
The story is not told in the Metamorphoses, but in the Héroïdes.
