Other cruelties in Paris on Sept. 2, 1792. Mme de Lamballe's head on a pike
Description
Paris, murderess, what have you become? Don't you stop pillaging and murdering,
How mistreated you are (1.) Afry, the Captain of the Swiss, this venerable old man?
With what torments don't you slaughter (2) Lamballe, the Queen's intimate friend?
You split her body, dragged her through the city, showed her head and heart
To the King and Queen, locked up in the Temple.
O France! So much inocent blood spilt cries out for vengeance!
