Faced by Father Cassandra, who seeks to sell her to the highest bidder, Colombine gives Pierrot her arm, and scorns Scapin, recognizable by his baggy clothes, likely to conceal all sorts of things.
History :
- Inscribed on an old mount: "A. Vatteau".
- In this original composition by Watteau, the figures are in the countryside.
- Engraved by Boucher, then reproduced in etching for other fans.
