Description
Captain of the Duke of Orleans' guards in 1712, Lieutenant General of Languedoc in 1718, nicknamed "Bon enfant" or "le Poupart", the Marquis de la Fare (1687-1752) was one of the Regent's roués.
His father-in-law, Claude-François Paparel, was arrested on the orders of Philippe d'Orlénas, the regent of the kingdom, like many other bankers, on suspicion of treason and the crime of peculiarity. He was sentenced to death in 1716, but La Fare obtained his pardon from Philippe d'Orléans, his protector.
