Description
Charles-Armand de Gontaut-Biron (1663-1756), a soldier of the old Périgord nobility, was one of the Regent's roués, who appointed him to the Council of War (1715-1718). A member of the Regency Council in 1721, he became Duke and Peer in 1723. In 1734, Louis XV made him Marshal of France.
