History :
2. This tapestry consists of two pieces that have been joined together (rentrayage). The joint is made on the 2nd central column from the left. The overall architecture of the palace shows that the pieces were composed for this purpose from the outset.
Roman collection, late 19th century;
Collection of the 9th Duke of Marlborough;
Donation subject to usufruct from Edward Tuck and Julia Stell, 1921; usufruct lifted in 1930.
