Description

The Latin title quotes the conclusion of Nebuchadnezzar's folly. Come to his senses, the king of Babylon celebrates the omnipotence of the Most High:

I praise, extol and glorify the King of Heaven, whose every work is truth, whose every way is righteousness, and who knows how to bring low those who walk in pride. (Daniel, 5, 33)

The engraving twists the meaning of this text: a queen, not a king, pompously adorned, stands before a pit...
