Description
Figure 37.
Subject. Edmond stands behind a glass door curtain, sketching the beautiful Ursule and young Fanchette nude; the latter, with her back to him, finishes removing the last veil.
"Must I confess that I was curious to see for myself one day when she was bathing in her room with Miss Fanchette? I took advantage of this opportunity to sketch the nude, based on two such perfect models: these two sketches are charming! For I had the same opportunity, and an even better one the next day, to touch them up. I promise to take advantage of this clever manoeuvre often. Ursule, perfectly formed, has soft, nourished contours; she is Venus, or nature in its perfection; Fanchette, more delicate, is less accomplished; she is graceful, she is Hebe (subject of the thirty-seventh figure).
