History :

2. Panel originally 62x99 cm enlarged on all four sides. Painted as a study for a tapestry, commissioned by Philip II's daughter for the Franciscan convent in Madrid: the Descalzas Reales. The convent church was famous for its festivities in honor of the Blessed Sacrament. The tapestries were woven in Brussels and are still on display at the convent.
