2. Constantin Huygens, secrétaire du prince Frédéric-Henri d’Orange, raconte dans son autobiographie (1630) que « chez mon Prince, on trouve la représentation d’un commandant turc, exécutée d’après la tête d’un Hollandais quelconque ».
Le titre actuel dans le catalogue du musée est « Mann in orientalischer Kleidung » [Homme en costume oriental].
