Description by Charles Blanc, in 1862:
" A basket of strawberries, a crystal glass half-full of water shimmering with the ruddy reflections of a beautiful peach placed next to two white carnations and a few cherries. "
History :
1. Signed lower left: Chardin.
2. The painting is sketched by Gabriel de Saint-Aubin in the margin of his 1761 Livret (reproduced in the 1979 cat Chardin, p. 324).
Collection Eudoxe Marcille (1814-1890) since 1862. Remained in this family.
