1. Signed and dated, lower center, on two lines : Chardin / 1758

2. Collection of Jacques Roettiers (1707-1784), goldsmith to the king, in 1761. Montaleau sale, July 19, 1802, no. 25. Collection of François de Marcille, then his son Camille. Marcille sale, March 6-7, 1876, no. 17. Acquired by the merchant Bourgeois, Cologne. Collection of Baron Henry, then James de Rotschild, until 1951. Leigh Block Collection, Chicago.
