Boissy d'Anglas salutes MP Feraud's head

Date :
1830
Type of image :
Peinture sur toile
Dimensions (HxL cm) :
60x92 cm
Storage Location :
Lardemelle Gallery

Description

In the center of the painting, facing Boissy d'Anglas, who is presiding over the assembly, we no longer see the deputy's head brandished at the end of a pike, this element of the painting having probably been deemed inappropriate in the years following its completion. As a result, the scene loses its meaning!

On the red flag on the right we can read 93: the demonstrators are calling for the restoration of the 1793 constitution.

History :

1. The author of the painting is unknown.

2. Sketched for the 1830 competition, the project was not selected.
