Portrait of Alexandre Dumas executed on the occasion of his visit to Victor Hugo's home in Guernsey. Dumas is photographed from the front.
History :
- Dedication on recto, bottom, in brown ink: "Guernsey, August 5, 1857 | Alex Dumas"
- Print with rounded upper corners, small spots in the negative, laminated to folio 93 of the Album des proscrits. This album, compiled in Jersey between 1853 and 1855 during Victor Hugo's exile, consists of 60 photographs of the Hugo family and the Proscrits, taken by Charles Hugo or Auguste Vacquerie.
