Description
Don Raymond, who has been invited to Baron de Lindenbourg's castle, meets Agnès and falls in love. But she is destined for the convent by her aunt Baroness doña Rodolpha. Raymond tries to persuade her to change her mind, but fails when he realizes that the baroness is madly in love with him: confessing to her that he loves another woman, the baroness fulminates with rage and soon after discovers Raymond kneeling before Agnès.
In the image, the baroness bursts into Agnès's room and discovers what she takes to be a betrayal: she'll be all the quicker to lock Agnès up in a convent out of vengeance.
