Description
The creation of this game at the beginning of the 20th century is certainly linked to the procedures for the beatification and then canonization of Joan of Arc.
History :
- The illustrator did not sign his engravings, but E. Serre is the usual illustrator of Saussine games.
- The image in the leaflet is not that of the copy kept at the Mucem, in poorer condition.
The Mucem copy was bought by Edith Frilley.
The set includes 1 lid, 1 box base, 1 green cardboard token basket, 3 pink cloth token purses, 12 pictorial lotto boards, 90 numbered cards, 94 colored tokens (including 3 real penny coins). - Jules Ernest Lenepveu, a painter from Anjou, created 4 canvases between 1886 and 1890 to decorate the Panthéon, including Jeanne devant Orléans, which probably served as a model here.
