Story of Umar an-Nu'mân (Thousand and One Nights, Manchester ms, p189)

Description

The landscape seated on the left on a curule seat is King Umar an-Nu'mân. He is assisted by a guard, standing behind him. Hands raised, he welcomes his son Sharr Kân and the latter's fiancée, Abrîza. The welcome takes place inside the palace, as indicated by the characters' bare feet.

Sharr Kân, who is a young man, wears a multicolored turban. Abrîza is veiled, but her veil is shown next to her face.
