Description
Fitzalan and his daughter Amanda are visiting a farming family one day. Amanda decides to explore the ruined St. Catherine's Abbey in the company of Miss O'Flannagan, one of the farming family's daughters. She discovers the grave of a deceased brother and gives in to her emotion, which touches Amanda. The two women then reflect on human vanity, comparing the fragility of existence to that of the dilapidated architecture around them.
