Alzonde and Delphine escape from Butua (Alzonde et Koradin, t. 2, ch. 11, 1799)
Notice précédente Notice n°2 sur 2
Description
Alzonde [Léonore] and her companion Delphine [Clémentine] have been captured by the prince of the kingdom of Butua, Benmaacoro. To escape, they make contact with Portuguese living near the kingdom's borders and plan their escape: they promise Benmaacoro unknown pleasures if he agrees to isolate himself with them in a walled garden behind which Portuguese guards are hiding. The escape is a great success: the two women cross the wall swiftly, and Benmaacoro dares not intervene when he sees the many men accompanying them (See Sade, Aline et Valcour, Paris, Gallimard, coll. "Bibliothèque de la Pléiade", 1990, XXXVIII, p. 797-798).
