Description
This cul-de-lampe depicts a princess handing her newborn baby to a blindfolded naked woman, and may represent blind fate or virtue. This may illustrate the short story Lorezzo: the protagonist, the natural son of a princess, has been entrusted from an early age to a peasant in order to be raised apart.
