Ermance, vignette (Baculard d'Arnaud, The Trials of Emotion vol4) - Halbou after Marillier

Description

Ermance is at home one day with Blinford, a close friend of her husband's named Daramant. Daramant has been tyrannizing her for a long time, so much so that she suddenly faints in front of Blinford, victim of a temporary weakness. He rushes in to support her and administer salts, but it's at this precise moment that Daramant enters the room: convinced of a guilty complicity between his wife and her friend, on seeing their physical closeness, he draws his sword and rushes at Blinford, whom he subsequently kills.
