Description
Vasco de Gama landed in Calicut on May 21, 1498. He left here three months later, loading the four ships of the expedition with all kinds of animals, including a unicorn... The Zamorin of Calicut gave him a letter for the King of Portugal.
Historically, this first expedition was a failure, and the Zamorin refused to grant the Portuguese the commercial advantages they had requested.
