Maturare iubent propere, et cunctarier omnes;
Ne nimium praeceps, neu mora longa nimis.
Hoc tibi declaret connexum echeneide telum:
Haec tarda est, volitant spicula missa manu.
2. Traduction française par Lefevre, Paris, Wechel, 1536 (même gravure) :
Tost. bellement.
Il fault courir tout bellement.
Et soy a grand loisir haster.
Trop tost n’est pas fait sagement.
Trop tard se doit precipiter.
Le traict donc qu’on scait tost getter,
Et Remore a course enuyeuse,
Ensemble a son sceu rapporter,
Pour monstrer diligence oyseuse.
