History :
  1. Signed F. BOUCHER and dated 1751. (The date corresponds to the completion of the tapestry cartoon).
  2. Royal commission (arms of France and Navarre in the escutcheon at the top center).
    Formerly in the D. Wildenstein collection, New York (until 1971).
    Monaco, private collection.
    Koller auction A136, March 22, 2006, lot no. 1186.
  3. Belongs to the “Opera Fragments” series. Boucher also painted the cartoons for Venus and the Loves and The Sleep of Issé.
