FABIANI,
a guitar in hand, singing.
When you sleep, calm and pure,
In the shadows beneath my eyes,
Your breath whispers
Harmonious words.
Your beautiful body reveals itself
Without veil and without finery... -
Sleep, my beautiful one,
Sleep always!!
When you tell me: I love you!
O my beauty, I believe
I believe that heaven itself
Opens above me!
Your eyes sparkle
With the beautiful fire of loves... -
Love, my beautiful,
Love always!!
Do you see? All life
Lies in those four words,
All the goods we envy,
All the goods without the evils!
All that can seduce
All that can charm... -
Sing and laugh,
Sleep, love!
(He puts the guitar down.)
Oh! I love you more than I can say, madame! But that Simon Renard! This Simon Renard,
more powerful than yourself here! I hate him.
