Story of Umar an-Nu'mân (Thousand and One Nights, Manchester ms, p160)

Description

To the left, the golden-hatted figure seated on a curule seat and flanked by a guard is King Umar an-Nu'mân. Opposite him, the young man in the multicolored turban is his son Sharr Kân. The king commands his son to raise an army and go to the aid of the Byzantines, who have requested his assistance against the kingdom of Caesarea, which they accuse of having been involved in pirating a ship.
