Liebman, vignette (Baculard d'Arnaud, The Trials of Emotion vol3) - Lingée after Marillier

Description

Count Liebman is a man who wishes to shape the woman he would like as his lover himself, in the manner of a modern Pygmalion. With this intention, he raises Amélie, the daughter of his gardeners, carefully keeping her away from the world, in his estate.

The vignette seems to illustrate a moment when the Count describes his surroundings to her, guiding her gaze and perceptions.
