Liebman, cul-de-lampe (Baculard d'Arnaud, The Trials of Emotion vol3) - De Longueil after Marillier

Description

The cul-de-lampe closes the short story Liebman and depicts a putto murmuring in the ear of a veiled young woman, who raises her finger to the sky. This image can be interpreted as an allusion to Amélie, the virtuous young girl who died of love for Count Liebman.
