Description

Him, fast sleeping, soon he found
In labyrinth of many a round, self-rolled. (Book IX, 182-183)

To tempt Adam and Eve, Satan decides to take possession of the serpent, whom he deems best suited to serve his purposes. He seeks him out and finds him asleep, curled up on himself.
