Description
Théodore saved Adeline from the clutches of the Marquis de Montalt, who wanted to marry her against her will. But to escape with her, he had to desert the army and is now being pursued by the king's soldiers. As night falls, they take refuge in an inn, but the soldiers find them and surprise Théodore: the latter, losing his temper on seeing Adeline passed out and realizing that the marquis is going to get his hands on her again, draws his sword and starts fighting with his superior, who wounds him. This is the moment when Adeline wakes up and finds to her amazement that Théodore, supported by the innkeeper, is seriously wounded, revealing her feelings for him.
